Hi Raymond,
Thanks for posting the song and lyrics of "The Leaving of Nancy". Both my sisters emigrated from Ireland to California in the 80's and one sister sang that song for our mother on the night before she left (we still have a cassette recording!). I still cannot read the lyrics without crying!!!
Also, may I say that "I Hate Wogs" is quite brilliant. The fact that you get support from racists says quite a lot about their mental ability I would say. In New York, in the last century, New Yorkers' thought that they could catch potato blight from Irish immigrants - LOL!
Thanks again,
Many regards, Patrick McInerney - Kilkenny, Ireland

Can Raynond or anybody help. Do the original lyrics to The Bold Fusiler consist of only two choruses and one verse. Whi is Peter Coe who is credited with adding the additional yrics. When did he live? I am using the Bold Fusilier in a musical which I am writing the book for. I believe Waltzing Matilda is based on the Bold Fusilier and not vice versa. It just does not make make sense to me someone composed the Bold Fusiler after 1895 and wrote the lyrics about a war of the first decade of the 1700s.

Hey I love "The Wild Colonial Boy", i havnt got the equipment yet but as soon as I do I will post (with your permission) my version of it. It is a little bit faster and with the verses you didn"t cover. Im not a proffesional muso and Im sure that who ever wrote it would turn over in his grave. But that is what this type of music is all about, keeping it relevant. All the best Dave

Hi. I just found your message. I think I've put just about all the ideas my class and I could think of into that song. Everyone has their own way of handling stress. I do it by listening to (and singing) folk music. Good luck with your course. Regards, Raymond

I like your singing, Raymond, and was delighted to hear you perform some songs associated with Richard Dyer-Bennet. I have recently finished writing a biography about Dyer-Bennet. The manuscript is with a publisher. In the meantime, if anyone's interested in learning more about Dyer-Bennet, see my web site about him http://richard.dyer-bennet.net/ Thanks for your wonderful music! POJ

Hello Raymond. I couldn't find your students' wiki but I found this one. Great to have a place with so many lyrics and tunes from so many different folk traditions, and I admire you having the confidence to broadcast yourself singing and strumming on Youtube - it must spice up listening practice at school!

Thanks for visiting. My student website is a private wiki, for safety reasons, as the students are quite young (Form 1 and 2). I think it would be harder to promote it in the school if it was available to anyone surfing the internet. However you can see my Student Corner website which is linked from the student site: geocities.com/skssenglish

Thank you for sharing your talents. Would appreciate if you could share the strumming pattern for "A thousand mile away." More success to you!
